A Chinese wedding dress factory said eight workers spent 40 days busy day and night to creating a $1.5 million dress from 2,009 peacock feathers. It might appeal to the lover of the unique for it is indeed rare to have a wedding dress with the peacock motif. It will definitely make you look like a million bucks.

The factory in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, said the dress also includes a bodice featuring brocade and Suzhou embroidery.

Male peacocks each shed an average 200 feathers during an average year, meaning the makers of the dress would have needed to collect dropped feathers from more than 10 birds for a year to gather enough for the gown, the British newspaper said.

Meet Gregoire Da silva the egg man, the man from the tiny West African state of Benin. He is a symbol of Africa’s many diverse cultures.

His headdress weighs up to twenty five kilograms, his body is armored with artifacts and his face painted with tribal patterns and an undying smile. Each day, Gregory Da Silva presents the city center with a new display of his symbolic art.

Gregory’s voice is lively and he repeatedly offers phrases and words in French. Born in Benin, West Africa, 1979, he was trained in computer science at university, but went on to found a theatre group in Benin called ‘Voice of Spirit’ or ‘Voix de l’Esprit’ which performed politically motivated as well as comic and poetic theatre at the Benin National Library.

When he is traveling in Africa, be it in Senegal, Cameroon, Mali or the Congo, the local people invariably look at him and say “ahh, that is our culture” as they see something of their own represented. “All Africa is in my clothes” he says, drawing attention again to his peerless
suit.

He is very popular with tourists, especially those from Italy, England, America and Germany, who frequently ask why he does not come over and do his thing in their own country. But he says his focus is on Africa. Pictures of him certainly do get back to their countries though, as Gregory says everyday “hundreds” of pictures are taken of himself, usually posing with the tourists.

Asked about his dreams and ambitions, Gregory (or the “Egg Man” or “Ei man” as he is also known) says that this year he is planning on starting an art school, which is part of his ‘Project For Africa’ for this year. He wants to impart creative knowledge to South African youth, giving them the power to create beautiful things and also to support themselves, all part of his ultimate
venerable ambition to “[bring] Africa together to make one”.

Ithaa, which means pearl in Dhivehi, is a mostly acrylic undersea restaurant secured fifteen feet below sea level at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa (soon to be the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island) in Rangalifinolhu, Maldives. The five-by-nine meter restaurant has a capacity of 14 people and is encased in R-Cast acrylic which is a transparent acrylic roof offering 270° panoramic view to its customers. The restaurant was designed and constructed by M.J. Murphy Ltd. - a design consultancy based in New Zealand - and was opened on April 15, 2005. Meals range in cost from US$120.00 (lunch for hotel guests on Full Board meal plan) to US$250.00 (dinner for hotel guests on Bed & Breakfast meal plan).

Ithaa's entrance is a spiral staircase in a thatched pavilion at the end of a jetty. The tsunami which followed the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake topped out at 0.3m below the staircase entrance, and caused no damage to the restaurant.

Following the model of northern-European countries like Sweden, Japan opened an ice hotel in Alpha Resort Tomamu’s ice village, on Hokkaido Island. The living-rooms, bath-rooms and bed-rooms are all made out of ice, and it costs two people 80,000 yen ($696) to spend the night.

Dinner is served on an ice plate while drinks come in ice glasses, so you have to sip them quickly, before they freeze.

Japan’s ice hotel is not for everyone of course, if you can’t handle the cold, you better not pack your bags just yet. Guests sleep dressed appropriately , in layers and thick winter jackets. If you think you can handle freezing cold, the hotel closes on February 15, so hurry up.

The ice hotel of Hokkaido looks good but it still doesn’t come close to Sweden’s ice hotel.

Shape-Shifting Solar iChange Vehicle Unveiled

We love seeing crazy concept cars, but we’re even more impressed when they actually get built! Swiss car manufacturer Rinspeed recently announced that they will be showing off a car lined with solar panels that is capable of changing shape to suit the number of passengers that are in the vehicle. Dubbed the iChange, the innovative vehicle will be showcased at this year’s Geneva auto show.

While they do not get any points for the name, the Rinspeed iChange won us over with its slick styling and bevy of eco-friendly features. The concept is a lightweight electric vehicle that is capable of going from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, and achieving a top speed of 220km/h. It can run for approximately 90 kilometers on one charge. As with many concept vehicles nowadays, the vehicle has been fitted with solar panels on the roof and sides. These recharge the batteries and assist with temperature control.

The car’s most remarkable feature is its ability to accomodate a number of passengers depending on the need. Normaly the vehicle will run with just one passenger. However, should the need arise, the rear of the vehicle opens up to reveal two more spaces. Needless to say, it looks really cool.

Today's special is for the wine lovers among us: it is a hotel in Stavoren, a very old port in northern Holland. The rooms where you sleep are in 15,000 litre wine barrel. There are four of them, each created from Swiss drums that used to contain Beaujolais wine from the French chateau area. The rooms look quite cozy, wood panelled, of course, with room for two narrow beds. No comment on the smell in the room; foxy, fruity, but all with plenty of body. Maybe you chose by flavour : red or white. Each one comes complete with a t.v., radio shower and toilet for this rare wines treat. There is a porch/ sitting room attached so things aren't quite as cramped as they appear.

General rates for a cask room are from 74-119 Euros a night with discounts of up to 75% off depending on season. If you go in the wintertime, a wine cask room can be as low as 18 Euros a night, cheaper than most hostels. Breakfast is included and you can even bring your dog.

1. The Crooked House (Sopot, Poland)

Construction of the building started in in January 2003 and in December 2003 it was finished. House architecture is based on Jan Marcin Szancer (famous Polish drawer and child books illustrator) and Per Dahlberg (Swedish painter living in Sopot) pictures and paintings.

The Hundertwasser house “Waldspirale” (”Forest Spiral”) was built in Darmstadt between 1998 and 2000. This unusual vehicle made its debut at Geneva and to tell the truth, shocked everybody a bit. First of all, it was designed by Franco Sbarro and it is his (I mean this vehicle) second time at Geneva, but, of course, some modifications were occurred.

What I like the most about this car, it proposes a plenty of very original solutions for a variety of car problems. For instance, parking issues, with Sbarro Assystem City Car it is unbelievably easy to park (first of all, due to this car small dimensions, then it has 3 axles, and finally ’cause of it light weight).

The car has a very unusual shape, it consists of 3 wheels and the front wheel is powered by an electrical engine with 20 kW (about 27 cv), that’s why the car can go up to 50 km/h of top speed and gets 30 km of autonomy. Not enough? Actually, most people don’t need more for everyday driving.

The City Car has 2 engines and they can operate together, so the car can be named a hybrid.

The company-manufacturer really wants to put this car on the streets ASAP. It is said, the car can carry up to five people and their luggage.

On 2006, this bizarre-looking baby was born in Charikot, the headquarters of Dolakha district, attracting a huge number of onlookers to witness the astonishing sight.

The neck-less baby with its head almost totally sunk into the upper part of the body and with extraordinarily large eyeballs literally popping out of the eye-sockets, was born to Nir Bahadur Karki and Suntali Karki at the Gaurishnkar Hospital in Charikot. The Karki couple is a permanent resident of Dolakha's Bhirkot VDC.

The bizarre baby, however, died after half an hour of its birth, Suntali, the mother, informed. It was taken to the hospital after its death. The news about such a baby being brought to the hospital spread like wildfire and there were hundreds gathered at the hospital to have a look. The police had to be deployed to control the crowd.
The baby weighed 2kg at birth and was born after the normal nine-month gestation period. Suntali, already a mother of two normal daughters, was not suffering from any illness during the pregnancy. Nir Bahadur, the father, says he does not feel any remorse for the newly-born baby's death. "I am happy that nothing happened to my wife," he said.

Miracle man walks again

He survived against all the odds; now Peng Shulin has astounded doctors by learning to walk again.
When his body was cut in two by a lorry in 1995, it was little short of a medical miracle that he lived.

It took a team of more than 20 doctors to save his life.
Skin was grafted from his head to seal his torso – but the legless Mr Peng was left only 78cm (2ft 6in) tall.
Bedridden for years, doctors in China had little hope that he would ever be able to live anything like a normal life agan.

But recently, he began exercising his arms, building up the strength to carry out everyday chores such as washing his face and brushing his teeth. Doctors at the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing found out about Mr Peng's plight late last year and devised a plan to get him up walking again. They came up with an ingenious way to allow him to walk on his own, creating a sophisticated egg cup-like casing to hold his body with two bionic legs attached to it. He has been taking his first steps around the centre with the aid of his specially adapted legs and a resized walking frame. Mr Peng, who has to learn how to walk again, is said to be delighted with the device.

MEET TINY JYOTI, THE SMALLEST GIRL IN THE WORLD

A teenager from India who stands at a tiny 1ft 11in (58cm) tall is the smallest girl in the world.
Jyoti Amge, 14, is shorter than the average two-year-old child and only weighs 11lb (5kg).

She has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia and won't grow any taller than her current height.

Due to her size, Jyoti has to have clothes and jewellery made for her. She sleeps in a tiny bed and uses special plates and cutlery to eat, as normal-sized utensils are too big.

Despite this, she goes to a regular school in Nagpur, central India, where she has her own small desk and chair, and her classmates treat her like any other student.

Jyoti also shares common interests with other teenagers, with a love for DVDs and fashionable dresses.

She said: 'I am proud of being small. I love all the attention I get. I'm not scared of being small and I don't regret it.

Jyoti is treated like a mini-celebrity in her home town, where people flock to meet her and some even treat her like a goddess.

She will even be releasing an album with her favorite Indian pop star, the bhangra/rap star Mika Singh.

Her mum, Ranjana Amge, 45, said: 'When Jyoti was born, she seemed quite normal. We came to know about her disorder when she was five.

She said: 'I would love to work in a big city like Mumbai, act in films and travel to London and America.

Six Limbed Girl in India

BANGALORE, India — A 2-year-old girl who was born with four arms and four legs showed the first signs of movement Thursday following a marathon operation to remove the extra limbs, doctors said. The girl, Lakshmi, was being kept sedated in the intensive care unit at a hospital in the southern Indian city of Bangalore during what doctors said was a critical 72-hour period following the operation.
"Lakshmi has moved her toes and hands for the first time and opened her eyes briefly," Dr. Sharan Patil, the head surgeon, told reporters.
"She is progressing in the right direction," he said. Patil said doctors were slowly reducing the amount of sedatives, but she was still breathing on a respirator.
Doctors were still cautious, however. "She is a 2-year-old girl who has undergone massive surgery, we have to watch and wait," said Dr. Mamatha Patil, a Sparsh Hospital spokeswoman.

Kenadie Jourdin-Bromley, known around the world as "the littlest angel", was born Feb.13, 2003, weighing just 2 lbs, 8 ounces. Doctors were at a loss as to why she was born so small and told her parents this little miracle baby likely wouldn't live through the night. But she did.

She continued to defy doctors expectations and at the age of 8 months, Kenadie was finally diagnosed with primordial dwarfism, a genetic condition that is believed to affect only about 100 people in the world. She isn't expected to grow past about 30 inches or weigh more than 8 pounds.

Nearing the age of four, Kenadie now walks, runs, laughs, smiles and is beginning to talk. But, perhaps more importantly, it's the way Kenadie makes people feel that is her strongest achievement.

She may be small but no one would argue that this little girl has an enormous effect on people throughout the world.

Fancying the idea of a flying hotel, the designer Jean Marie Massaud conjured up the future options for travel, the Manned Cloud! Bagging the award by the Design Observer 2008, the Manned Cloud is actually a flying hotel that will enable its commuters to indulge and experience spectacular and exotic places without being intrusive or exploitative. The whale-shaped airship, developed by Massaud Studio in affiliation with French national aerospace research body ONERA, will be able to accommodate 40 guests and have a range of 5,000 km. Two two-deck cabin will contain amenities including a restaurant, a library, a fitness suite and a spa. Travelers can also take a sun bath on a sun deck on top of the double helium-filled envelopes. It will be a dream come true for many to live in the sky and watch the Earth from above. Hit the jump for more pics of this whale in the sky………….

It is estimated that the travelers can enjoy a non-stop round the world in 3 days, while staying in any of its 60 rooms as the Manned Cloud will have a cruising speed of 130 km/h and a top speed of 170 km/h. Since this behemoth gets its lift from helium, there's not much danger of a fiery hydrogen explosion.

MCE MC1 super car is no more mysterious. Finally the wraps over the identity of the much speculated mystery super car has been taken off. It’s now official as the MCE MC1 and is the outcome of the joint efforts of MotorCity, a design firm based in Germany, and C2P Automotive. The former being the brain behind this concept and the latter executing it. Although it’s still strictly a concept, this super car is powered by a 600bhp V10 and features an all-carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Its wheels are enormous at 20-inches up front and 21-inches in the rear.

In terms of size, CAR states that the MC1 is "slightly shorter and narrower than a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, and a mere 15mm higher." As of yet there is no word about this not-a-mystery-now car reaching the production stage but both companies need funding to get this baby on the road.

Designed for a prominent urban site on the occasion of the European Housing Expo 2001, Calatrava’s residential tower for Malmö, at the city’s West Harbor, is based in form on his sculpture Turning Torso.
Conceived to enhance and enlarge a public area, defined by the intersection of two main roads, the “Turning Torso” building is meant to be seen as a free-standing sculptural element posed within the cityscape.

Mover Q your amphibious car designs are redundant, maybe they were good enough for the previous spies but the next-gen demands a more synced-up version. In case you need to take pointers, make sure you are there at the Geneva Motor Show (March 6th thru 16th, 2008), where Swiss design company Rinspeed will showcase their sQuba Concept Car. The makers claim that it is the world's first real diving car. And if its aquatic feats were not enough, the car can (at the push of a button) drive autonomously. It can dive to the depth of up to 10 meters (33 feet). The "sQuba" fulfills Rinspeed's boss Frank M. Rinderknecht long cherished dream of creating something that marries fictitious movie concepts to reality. Thus taking inspiration from "The spy who loved me", sQuba features an electric motor with powerful torque that drives the rear wheels. The thrust on the water is ensured by two propellers in the stern and two powerful jet drives in the bow propel the vehicle under water while diving. The car promises zero emissions thus zero pollution to the water. The light weight body with components made of futuristic Carbon Nano Tubes encloses in a streamlined manner the driver and passenger who are supplied with fresh breathing air by the self-contained on-board system.

Rinspeed sQuba Concept Car is a one-off car. No commercial production is planned.

Cast your beady eyes on the world’s most exclusive hotel, the Everland. Designed by Swiss artist-duo Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann, Everland is a one-room designer prefab perched 30 meters above ground level that enjoys a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower. In October 2007, the one suite hotel Everland moved from the roof of the Leipzig Gallery of Contemporary Art to the roof of the Paris ‘Palais de Tokyo’ where it will be open to guests for an overnight stay and museum visit during the day until the end of 2008. The one-of-its-kind hotel has only one room, including a bathroom, a king-size bed and a lounge. The ample dimensioned room shows the subjective dream of a hotel - the architecture and the playful details.

Sabina Lang cited - It’s absurd to have a one-room hotel and it’s never going to be a success as a business plan. We just like to play around with the idea of exclusivity and luxury. The Everland hotel is not cheap, however. To stay in such an exclusive hotel, guests pay €333 (US $488.44) a night during the week and €444 (US $651.79) at weekends.

The famous quote says that the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. When you place a Middle Eastern dignitary in the equation, you’ll have this difference at it’s tipping point.

What am I talking about? Well, I am talking about a toy that will cost 150 million dollars, yeap, US$ 150,000,000.00. That’s the price of a new Airbus A380 “private jet” soon to be delivered to this unknown dignitary. Actually, a Flying Palace fits more the new toy description.

Besides the fully-equipped board room, cozy relaxing zone, the pimped-out jet features a grand entrance, VIP lounge with five couches and a tucked away wet bar that is fully equipped with a refrigerator, a wine chiller and a microwave and a dining room with a 70-inch flat screen and 42-inch pop-up monitors. There is even a secluded area off the private dining room on the upper deck that is designed to enjoy desert retreats. The jet’s 6,640 square-foot cabin is designed by designer Edese Doret.

Take a look at the most unusual chocolate factory in the world. It is the Nestle chocolate factory at Mexico! The brain behind this avant-garde ‘Charlie & The Chocolate Factory’ is Mexican architect Michel Rojkind. Since this plant churns out the most sinful goodies, the architect proposed creating a whole new structure to initiate the visitors into the ultimate Nestle experience. Situated along the main highway into Paseo Tollocan, the entire, horizontal sculptural structure has become an instant landmark. The entirety of Rojkind’s structure is
rested on concrete pillars, raising the structure entirely off the ground. The multi-faceted structure creates equally compelling abstract spaces inside, housing a child-friendly visitor’s reception area, a museum shop, and a theater. From the outside, the museum, with its subtly zigzagging volumes, begins to look like a large abstract caterpillar, clad in red corrugated steel panels. Those who are wondering where the factory is, worry not; the building funnels directly
into the factory, where the chocolate is actually made.

Daimler today revealed the Maybach Landaulet, an open-top version of its Maybach 62 S. Now this fresh bolt from the blue information will put smiles back on the faces of those who swear by this brand. The Maybach 62 Landaulet is directly inspired by the 1939 Maybach SW 42 Landaulet. Only 20 of them will me made to raise the bar of its exclusivity. The Laundaulet version features a folding roof for passengers, so you can drop the top like a convertible, detailed out gold specked granite inserts, all black leather front cabin, while the rear passenger cabin is all white. The side walls remain, and have been reinforced with an integral tubular steel structure. As these measures have not altered the silhouette of the luxury saloon, the complete interior with its reclining seats remain unchanged. When closed the black soft-top of the Landaulet rests on the frame formed by the roof bows, and is wind and weather-proof. And all this stylish roof business takes place in just 16 seconds!

The Maybach Landaulet study is powered by the uprated V12 engine that Maybach engineers developed for the Maybach 57 S and Maybach 62 S. Thanks to twin turbochargers and water intercooling, the V12 develops a maximum output of 612 hp and 738 pound-feet of torque.

In the month of May, we talked about the Diamond covered Mercedes SL Class. The idea may be unexplainable but the car it’s self is flawless, offering you a celebrity status. This Mercedes SL55 covered with diamonds (fake ones of course) was spotted at an overseas show. From a distance, it almost appears that the car is coated in glitter, but it is actually covered in diamonds. We had very little info on this car then but now we know that it’s a SL600. Every bit off this car is bedecked……even the exhaust pipe and the tire-plates are not spared. The seats are of course not blinged with diamonds as… Ouch! they may scrape your skin. Take a look at the outfits that were fitted with more than 1,500 Austrian gold coins! Designed by students from a Tokyo design school, Bunka Fashion College, the outfits were shimmering and the models looked like fishes with dazzling golden scales! The coins were lent by the Austrian Mint Office and worth more than $1.2 million. They were sewn onto three pieces of apparel - a full-length dress weighing 10 kg (22 pounds) and two jackets weighing up to 21 kg (46 pounds). More dazzling images follow......

The coins were sewn onto the clothes in a locked room within the college campus, where the teachers kept a constant watch. "I felt the weight of the task as I sewed on each piece, coin by coin," said student Yuko Imauji. However if you are planning to create one for yourself then, let me warn you that recently Gold prices have hit a 28-year high as the dollar dropped. Spot gold hit a high of $799.30 an ounce, its highest since January 1980.
